Good, well-structured class with enthusiastic teacher.

I found the method of introducing basic grammar structures first, with vocabulary along the way, to be a really effective way to learn. Maria is an excellent teacher, and I look forward to starting level 2 with her.

Great start in learning Spanish the right way

The course was very easy to follow. There was a ton of content but it felt manageable and I learned it quickly.

There wasn't nearly enough speaking practice time during class, and I didn't learn the types of phrases I was hoping to. I thought we could have gotten the same grammar instruction from a class more oriented towards the types of conversations and questions you have while traveling

The structured conversation environment was exactly what I was looking for. After several years of fruitless app based attempts at language education, the class made enormous improvement in my ability.

I took a level 1 spanish course in Berges Institute, Ed was pretty good at explaining complicated grammar rules. The pace of the course is very well, you have a good amount of knowledge about Spanish at the end of the course.

Course was structured well and easy to follow as it progressed. Maria was extremely pleasant and very helpful.

I thought the class did a really good job at teaching the basics. I've actually studied Spanish all through grade school and college and I wanted to retake classes because my new job requires Spanish usage daily. So, I started with the beginner course because of the Groupon and LOVED IT. I thought our teacher was very approachable and made people feel comfortable even when they messed up. I'm already signed up for level 2. :-)

This course provides an excellent introduction to the Spanish language.

The progression of grammatical concepts was excellent, as was the amount of interaction and conversation, and Nelson was very flexible as people entered and left our particular class because of changes in their schedules.

Julia was patient and made the class fun. The pace of the class was perfect.

Brilliant. When you're learning a new language and starting at zero, you're completely vulnerable and self-conscious even more so as an adult. The course offers a practical approach and you can use what you learn immediately.

I like the structure of the course. I took a Spanish class elsewhere two years ago and was very unimpressed with the teaching style, layout of the information taught, and the fact that there really wasn't any homework. I love that we have homework at Berges. It's important to lay some basic foundational groundwork before you try to force people to have conversations with each other, and Berges does this.

Excellent course for someone who knows no Spanish. The pace was appropriate and the teacher made learning fun. The textbook is very easy to read and to reference. The teacher discussed more idioms and encouraged class participation.

The course was great in providing me a good understanding of the basics and providing a solid foundation to build off of. I believe this path is much better then the educational apps you can download as it gives you added context around why and how certain things are written and/or spoke.

I really enjoyed the course and have signed up for Spanish II with Andreas. I liked the pace of the course, the way the materials was arranged, and the way the assignments helped to reinforce what was taught in the classroom. Andreas was very supportive, knowledgeable, and made the class fun!

I enjoyed the course and the pacing of the course was just right. I think it helped that I had some prior Spanish knowledge.

Very good overall, love the wide variety of date/time options and make ups, short length of classes and casual vibe. Teacher not super welcoming of questions but overall very pleased and will continue

Course was well structured and easy to follow up.

Engaging, effective, and fun. Instructor basically explains the mechanics of the language, which makes it so much more intuitive to put in practice. Gives you a framework for rapidly assimilating the grammatical rules and structures.

The class was mainly verbal practice combined with repetition which I felt to be the most effective teaching style I have come across in my previous attempts to learn the language. After completion of the class I took a vacation to Mexico and was shocked to realize how much of the language I understood.

Great course. Alejandro was a great teacher and made the language seem accessible. Looking forward to level 2!

Great course structure and very nice instructor.

It was very educational. I really learned a lot. It was fun and interactive. Our teacher, Nelson, was very effective and fun. We loved him. We will be continuing our Spanish classes up till we finish Advance Conversational Course.

I had attempted to learn Spanish on my own and could not get past the verbs “Ser” and “Estar. I decided to enroll after a friend told me he was taking a class at Berges. He recommended Nelson Navarrate. I am glad that I got a place in Nelson’s Level 1 class. I am excited to taking a deeper dive into the Spanish Language because his enthusiasm, openness and humor put me at ease and made it easy for me to absorb his instructions. I’m look forward to more classes with Nelson.

Monica was very friendly and helpful. She pointed out nuances of the Spanish language when people inquired. I learned a lot of vocabulary and became comfortable speaking a new language.

This was a good beginner course, but I already knew about 1/2 of what we learned. I liked the live Q&A in class. Probably needed to have 1/2 session based on what we want reviewed before the exam.

Overall the course was well-structured and covered a lot of important topics that I'd hope to see at a beginner's level. It often moved a bit too quickly however and I found myself wishing more time was spent going through examples of concepts until we felt comfortable before moving on to new ones. Nevertheless, I did learn a lot, and for someone looking to become conversational quickly, this course does a good job of preparing for that.

Everything was explained very well and with a sense of humor which made the class fun. The pace is fast so it’s best to spend sometime outside of class studying.

I think more emphasis should be placed on spoken spanish, with either tapes of the lessons for true beginners, a spanish movie or short video and questions asked about comprehension, etc. Hearing a spanish speaking person talking fast just doesn't help someone unfamiliar with the language. Having additional materials is really needed in the class as an adjunct to the book.

As a couple taking Spanish Classes together at the Berges Institute with Instructor Alejandro Navarro we feel compelled to mention the awesome time we had during our Beginners Class. If there was a way to give the Institute and our instructor more than five stars we definitely would have. The school and their Graf Method is excellent. We were very pleased with the professional manner of the entire Office Staff, especially Kevin, who answered any and all questions that we asked of him and was always very pleasant and knowledgeable. Our instructor Alejandro Navarro is a gifted teacher that has multiple techniques which he strategizes to get all of his concepts to reach and have us understand, visualize and remember all the material. He is very attentive and is a keen listener who makes corrections and explanations to each and every detailed item. He is very funny and has stories which are hilarious, drawings on the board and class participations which tremendously helped us to remember what may have been otherwise difficult. Alejandro is very patient, knowledgeable, professional, creative, and overall a very kind and phenomenal educator and human being. We have just completed the Beginners Class with Alejandro and have signed up for Level 2 with him again. We plan to continue up to level 5 here at the Berges Institute and will take all of our classes with him. WE SUPER HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Berges Institute and instructor Alejandro Navarro!!

Great course and great tools

I am so happy with how much I learned in such a short time!

Absolutely excellent course. The course is sensibly designed in terms of what is introduced first and how it's built upon. Homework is manageable and really helps solidify what is covered in class. I've tried beginning Spanish twice elsewhere over the years and Berges far exceeds the others in the quality of curriculum and teacher.

I have taken 2 years of spanish in high school, granted, a large component of what you learn and retain is your own personal effort, but I love the Berges approach and the email recommendations of things you can be doing to help improve and my instructor Jesus is awesome. For the first time i feel like i have a strong foundation on the material that i have been taught and i am finding myself able to read and hear a lot more words, more than ever before

Jesus is an amazing teacher. He is passionate, patient, fun and committed! I think his teaching combined with the clarity of the textbook and homework made this class a complete success. There’s nothing I would change, except for the opportunity to take classes twice a week for those trying to accelerate their Spanish.
