La voz pasiva (the passive voice)
En las construcciones pasivas, el objeto pasa a ser el sujeto, y el sujeto pasa a ser lo que se llama complemento agente. Este complemento agente siempre va introducido por la preposición por (equivalente a by en inglés). Siempre usamos el verbo ser + participio. El participio debe concordar con el sujeto en género y en número.
💂 In passive constructions, the object becomes the subject, and the subject becomes what is called the agent. This agent is always introduced by the preposition por (equivalent to by in English). We always use the verb ser + participle. The participle must agree with the subject in gender and number.
Juan come una manzana. Una manzana es comida por Juan. (Juan eats an apple. An apple is eaten by Juan.)
El congreso aprobó la nueva ley. La nueva ley fue aprobada por el congreso. (The congress approved the new law. The new law was approved by the congress.)
