Basic Conversation is an immersion course taught entirely in Spanish, designed for those who are comfortable speaking in the present, pretérito perfecto, pretérito imperfecto, and future tenses.

Through structured conversation practice, you'll develop the fluency and confidence to handle real-world Spanish interactions without hesitation.

Complete Basic Conversation and speak Spanish naturally in everyday situations—the final step from grammar student to conversational speaker.

To take this level, you should have scored at least 19 points on our Online Placement Test and/or completed Level 4. You should also be comfortable using most tenses correctly. For help deciding whether you are ready, schedule a free oral assessment.

2. Follow the instructions to join the video conference room on the day of your class.

I was really nervous when I started this level because I was not comfortable speaking in Spanish. I must say that this level is great start to ease into speaking the language. I like the structure of the classes in that, we are provided with topics and "temas" as talking guides but still allowed to go off topics and speak with each other about interest etc..

Very well structured program covering all levels with such an interactive approach to push the student to learn and practice. And the teachers are all strong in their approach and quite experienced. So recommended! It would be great if you add more languages like Arabic with different dialects based on the teacher!

The Basic Conversation class has given me a very comfortable environment to practice my Spanish-speaking skills. I enjoy the format of the course: the combination of speaking about articles in Spanish and the topic of the week offers exceptional space to practice.

I think the model that Berges has, with a monthly rate as opposed to a per-class rate, is a great feature, especially when learning a language is a long and slow process. The process does not have to be financially out-of-reach. I am taking a weekly grammar class and a weekly conversation class, so I feel like I am getting a very good value for my money, especially with the caliber of teachers that I have experienced. I wish I had found Berges sooner. If you are on the fence - I say go for it. And I suggest if you aren't happy after your first class, take another with a different teacher. Everyone has different teaching and learning styles, and you just need to find the right fit for you.

The Basic Conversation course was a fantastic way for me to get to practice what I have been learning in the other courses. Nicolás kept the conversations rolling even when there were students with different levels of conversational ability. I was a bit nervous and apprehensive at first about taking a course that was just going to be focused on conversation but after the first class all of the nervousness I had went away.
